Past and Present GALLERY from WDLMA Lucky 7 Opener

On a night to honor nostalgia (including $5 fan admission!) Luxemburg Speedway had the past and present on display for a full grandstand. The Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association joined the weekly divisions and racing was preceded by a parade of Vintage dirt cars.

The cars on display were rich in history. Photos of them are available in the gallery below.

When it came to the racing, the WDLMA Lucky 7 Series put on an incredible show. The class takes Dirt Late Model rules through the state and combines them so the best from the Southeastern portion of the state can take on the best of the Northeast and North Central parts of the state.

Former Champion Mitch McGrath (74) had to fight hard for his win in the feature event. After wrestling the lead away from Michael Mullen (99), McGrath surrendered the lead to him on a restart about midway through the feature.

Unfortunately for Mullen, luck ran out just a few laps after the restart when his left rear tire went flat. It appeared as though McGrath had the race in hand at that point. However, Taylor Scheffler made a late run to challenge McGrath in the final five laps. He pulled even on several occasions, but McGrath was able to hold on.
