2016 ARP/STREET RODDER Shades of the Past Road Tour, Part 5

With just one more day before the start of the Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup we all decide that a drive across the Smoky Mountains National Park would be just fine. The fantastic weather that we have enjoyed all week continued and the cruise to Maggie Valley, North Carolina, was beautiful. Our destination was the Wheels Through Time Museum that features over 300 American-made motorcycle and memorabilia. We picked a great day to visit as the Hot Bike Tour was also stopping by the museum.

We have visited Dale Walksler and the museum in the past and it is always a hit with the Road Tourians. While the rare motorcycles are the stars, it is the displays that many folks find intriguing. The exhibits showcase the bikes in realistic settings from a hill climb scene, a chopper graveyard, and a Harley repair shop right out of the ’50s, to name a few. The focus is on motorcycles displayed in original condition and Dale stresses that almost all of them run.

Recently Dale and the museum and shop have become well known for their work on the American Restoration TV show on History Channel. It was a great afternoon visit at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley. Many thanks to Dale and his wife, Trish, for making us feel so welcome on our Thursday visit.
